E-SKA at the BEWEGT Conference – Networking, Exchange, and Valuable Insights

On 18 and 19 March, we were represented at the BEWEGT Conference, together with over 40 projects from the funding focus area „Energy Transition and Society“ within the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy’s energy research programme. We were able to gain important insights, establish new contacts, and sharpen our own approach through dialogue with the expert community.

Poster Session: E-SKA in Conversation

At a poster session, we presented the E-SKA project to a broad specialist audience. The response was positive – there is strong interest in the topic of scaling municipal energy transition solutions, and many participants saw direct connections to their own work. Our poster is available for download below.

Workshops and Networking

In several workshops and themed discussion tables, we had the opportunity to exchange ideas intensively with other projects and stakeholders from the energy transition field. Particularly valuable was the direct contact with projects pursuing similar research questions – and the opportunity to identify shared approaches and synergies.

Our Key Takeaways:

The conference confirmed and deepened several central insights:

  • Scaling is the order of the day – The question of how successful energy transition projects can be transferred and scaled up is a concern across the entire community. E-SKA is right at the forefront of this debate.
  • Municipal datasets as a shared foundation – Other projects are also working on or with municipal datasets, opening up promising synergy potential for future collaboration.
  • The middle path: archetypes as a solution – A key insight confirmed through exchange with other projects: neither a universal „one size fits all“ approach nor bespoke individual solutions for every municipality are the right way forward. Intermediate solutions – specifically, municipal archetypes – hold great potential for combining scalability with local fit.
